We welcome you to the 23/24 season at the Münchner Kammerspiele - to emotional, challenging, linguistically powerful theatre experiences. This season will be political, physical and interplanetary.
We open with a large ensemble piece directed by Jan Bosse: “Im Menschen muss alles herrlich sein” by Sasha Marianna Salzmann. Salzmann tells of the end times of the USSR and of the profound upheavals in our present. The young Lithuanian director Kamilė Gudmonaitė, whose production “Ха́та - Zuhause” brings Ukrainians and Russians together on stage, also tells of the enormous conflicts in Eastern Europe.
Karin Henkel’s production “Liebe” marks the beginning of a series of works that deal sensually and poetically with the vulnerability of our bodies and how we deal with death and mortality. And in Nora Abdel-Maksoud’s new play, the world of the health system even strikes comedic sparks.
A third major theme of this season is dealing with the ecological crisis of our planet. Elfriede Jelinek’s newest work “Sonne / Luft”, directed by Falk Richter, will let the sun itself speak to us - in “Die Verteidigung des Paradieses” we travel to a post-apocalypse Bavaria with Thomas von Steinaecker’s exuberant science fiction story.
We look forward to Lena Christ, Frau Schmidt, Jan Marsalek, Prospero, Elon Musk, Miss Strangeworth and the sun. And we look forward to welcoming you!
