40 years of music without borders
Pippo Pollina, the versatile Sicilian musician, has been on the road as one of the most creative artists in the European singer-songwriter scene for more than thirty years. Countless record productions, international tours, prestigious collaborations give him a special status that he has earned through continuity and commitment both in the studio and live on stage.
Now 60 years old, Pippo Pollina feels the need to celebrate this milestone with a solo concert in an intimate setting in his own way: alone on stage, with only guitar or sitting at the piano with his expressive voice that has gained even more intensity with maturity.
The program “Solo in concerto” represents a kind of retrospective of songs, stories and films of a truly extraordinary career. From Pollina’s debut in Sicily with the folk music of Agricantus to his anti-mafia involvement as a journalist in the then nascent movement against the Cosa Nostra in Palermo. From leaving his native Italy for an aimless trip around the world, through street music and the first concerts, to the many artistic encounters that changed his life and also generated some international musical collaborations: with the Swiss Linard Bardill, Patent Ochsner and Endo Anaconda of Stiller Has, with the German singer-songwriters Konstantin Wecker, Schmidbauer & Kälberer. Collaborations with legendary Italian musicians Franco Battiato, Giorgio Conte, Etta Scollo, Nada, Davide Van De Sfroos or Eugenio Finardi, with French chansonnier Georges Moustaki, with Norwegian jazz singer Rebekka Bakken, as well as with Chileans Inti- Illimani and many more.
Pippo Pollina - Solo in concerto. The artist alone on stage. Authentic and intimate. Face to face. With his own songs and his imposing voice. With his own memories and stories of a life full of diverse experiences.
A concert for all those who love Italian songwriting, as well as for all those who have already experienced the art of Pippo Pollina. An art that walks soulfully but intensely between poetry, music and moral courage.
