A morning for Therese Giehse
From now on the former Kammer 2 is no longer called Spielhalle and also no longer Neues Haus but: Therese-Giehse-Halle. In the Steinfoyer, the club of busts around Otto Falckenberg gets a female member for the first time, designed by the artist Kate Isobel Scott.
For the opening of the new artistic directorship, the Münchner Kammerspiele want to focus on one of their greatest actress personalities and, with a wink, set a reminiscent political counterpoint to the men who have been more than present in the theater’s history for decades.
Anke Büttner, director of the Monacensia, and Renate Schmidt, executor of Therese Giehse’s estate and biographer, talk about a resistant actress.
