Beatrice Rukanyanga holds a bachelor’s degree in Democracy and Development studies from Uganda Martyrs University, and a post graduate diploma in Social Work and Social Administration from Makerere Institute for Social Development. Beatrice has worked in community development for 19 years; she is a defender of woman rights and an activist. Currently she is working as a coordinator with rural women in a community based organization, Kwataniza Women Farmers Group to advance climate, gender and economic justice through promoting alternatives. Furthermore, Beatrice has participated in different regional dialogues on woman’s movement building and has mobilized women in ecofeminist activities in Hoima, Uganda. Her work is concerned with resisting the dominance of patriarchy in local communities while encouraging women to be confident, invest in a better livelihood and to live in solidarity as women.
