Eva Veronica Born

Eva Veronica Born studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. After graduating and working as an assistant at the Munich Kammerspiele, she has been working as a freelance scenographer in German-speaking and international theater and cultural contexts since 2012. In the field of tension between urban, theatrical, and museum spaces, she develops objects, spaces, processes, and artistic interventions for various theaters, museums, and festivals, including the Munich Kammerspiele, the Vienna Festival, the Ruhrtriennale, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Martin Gropius Bau Berlin, the Humboldt Forum Berlin, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Thalia Theater, and the Goethe Institut Beiing. In cooperation with the Berliner Festspiele, documenta fifteen, and material initiatives, she initiated the circular project “Theater/Material/Kreislauf” (Theater/Material/Circle), which focuses on exploring sustainable material cycles in the theater and cultural context from an artistic perspective. Eva Veronica Born also addresses sustainability at the MK. In the 2025/26 season, she designed and created a new sustainable and modular room concept for the Werk*raum using recycled materials. This project was funded by the Zero programme – Climate-Neutral Art and Culture Projects of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.

After being invited twice to the Berlin Theatertreffen as a stage designer, she was part of the Theatertreffen team as a scenographer from 2015 to 2022, designing the festival campus and room installations in and around the Haus der Berliner Festspiele every year. Since 2022, Eva Veronica Born has been teaching in the Stage Design / Scenic Space program at the TU Berlin, focusing on sustainable design strategies.
