Wiebke Mueller
Wiebke Mueller works as a freelance scenographer, specialising in set design, costume design and performance. Her artistic practice centres on storytelling through and with materials, site-specific contexts and characters. She is interested in the inherent life of objects as well as their symbolic significance within a social context. A central aim of her work is to break down traditional theatrical contexts and open up new spaces for storytelling. In many of her projects, she engages with the ‘small stages of the city’ – that is, those places that have an everyday character but harbour great narrative potential. Collective working methods are an important part of her artistic practice. Since 2017, Wiebke has been a co-founder and active member of the artists’ collective Kollektiv Kubik. Wiebke has worked and produced at venues including the Residenz Leipzig, the Staatsschauspiel Dresden, the Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst (GfZK) Leipzig, the Theater der jungen Welt Leipzig, the Theater Junge Generation Dresden, Zeitraumexit, the 4Bid Gallery Amsterdam, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Chimaera Festival. Wiebke currently lives in Dresden.
