Jakob Roters
Jakob Roters studied cello with Prof. Julius Berger and is a freelance cellist, performer, and studio musician.
He co-founded the Verworner Krause Chamber Orchestra (VKKO) in 2014 and the Paranormal String Quartet (PSQ) in 2015; with these ensembles, he won the grand prize at the “D-Bü” competition in 2017, the Bavarian Arts Promotion Prize in 2019 and 2020, the Reload Fellowship from the Federal Cultural Foundation in 2020, second prize and the Audience Award at the Rotary Club’s Creative Music Award in 2021, and the Chemnitz Mozart Prize in 2023. He has collaborated with collectives, theaters, and opera houses, including the Bavarian State Opera, the Hauen und Stechen Collective in Berlin, the August Everding Academy under Benjamin Truong, the Hidalgo Collective, and many different ensembles spanning classical, jazz, and contemporary music. As a studio and live musician, he has contributed to CD releases and recordings with artists such as Die Fantastischen Vier, ENIK, the Jazzrausch Big Band, Fiver, Nils Landgren, Rhani Krija (Sting), Gregor Hübner, Elin Rombo, Joris, Tim Bendzko, as well as film score composers such as Gerd Baumann, Jörg Pfeil, and many others.
Starting in July 2026, he will be part of the band accompanying Alexander Wolfe and Alice Merton, who will be performing at this year’s Nibelungen Festival in Worms.
Jakob runs Two Moon’s Studio in Munich in cooperation and close collaboration with composer Christopher Verworner.
