Meike Wagner

Meike Wagner is a professor of theater studies at LMU Munich. Her research focuses on contemporary theater, performance, and puppetry, as well as the history of theater, with an emphasis on theater and the public sphere and amateur theater. She recently published a book on proto-democratic practices in theater societies around 1800: *Performing Citizenship and German Amateur Theatricals*, London: Bloomsbury 2026, open access.
