Anna Orkolainen

Anna Orkolainen is a dancer, performer, choreographer, clown, Butoh dancer, and educator from Finland. Her artistic focus lies in performance as a space for transformation, presence, and embodied storytelling. In independent dance and theater projects, she develops and performs her own choreographic and performative works, which are based on many years of training and practice in Jinen Butoh, physical theater, and contemporary dance. Her performance language is deeply rooted in the body and shaped by intensive studies with Atsushi Takenouchi, as well as through collaboration with musician Marja Burchard and training with Nina Dipla, Slava Polunin, and Shusaku Takeuchi.

Her performances emerge from an ongoing dialogue between the body, imagination, and collective space, and are characterized by authenticity, vulnerability, and poetic intensity.
