Pierre-Yves Delannoy
Pierre-Yves Delannoy (born 1995 in Châlons-sur-Marne, France) collects, searches, sows, and invites. He rolls, pulls, opens, and cooks. He spins, cuts, embroiders, and felts.
Repetition and action are at the heart of his practice, with the body as the central focus: a conscious departure from his architectural training, in which the body is often abstracted. For Delannoy, the personal is political, not as a theory but as a working method: what happens to his body, what he remembers or forgets, always bears the imprint of the system in which he lives. His attention is focused on what society would rather forget: queers, the marginalized, the vulnerable. By working with craft techniques historically coded as feminine or inferior—such as felting, embroidery, and crocheting—he tells stories that should not be forgotten. For him, storytelling is an act of resistance.
Pierre-Yves Delannoy studied architecture, fine arts, and performance in Germany, France, Belgium, and Chile. In 2025, he received the Bavarian Studio Prize. His works have been exhibited at the Kunstverein München, Lothringer Halle 13, Kunsthaus Kaufbeuren, Haus der Kunst, and Kunsthalle Trier, as well as in Paraguay, Mexico, and Belgium.
