Niloufar Taghizadeh
Niloufar Taghizadeh was born in Iran and began working in the film industry at an early age. She has lived in Germany since 1996 and studied film directing at the Athanor Academy. In the course of her career, she has worked on many international projects as a writer and director and has also been involved in production. Some film projects were made in collaboration with Arte and ZDF for cinema and television.
In 2019, she founded her production company Windcatcher Productions, with which she has brought together a young team to deals with multi-layered stories and biographies on film. Human rights, especially women’s and children’s rights, are an important theme in her films. She tries to make oppression in every form - be it in art and culture or social conditions - tangible for the audience through personal stories in her films.
In 2024, Niloufar Taghizadeh is releasing two documentaries in cinemas and at international festivals: Nila’s Dream in the Garden of Eden and Googoosh - Made of Fire differ in their story and aesthetics, but not in their basic need to condemn oppression and reappraise Iran’s history. With her films, she contributes to reflecting on the social conditions in Iran and the whole world and to adopting other perspectives.
