Avishai Milstein

Avishai Milstein was born in Israel in 1964 and lives in Tel Aviv. After studying theatre studies at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, he embarked on the first of many directing projects. Since 1998, he has worked as chief dramaturg at the Beit Lessin Theatre in Tel Aviv, where he has also been artistic director of the ‘Potchim Bama’ festival for new Israeli drama since 2000. He founded the independent theatre ‘Teatron Notzar’ and is a member of the artistic board of the Institute for Israeli Drama, as well as founder and artistic director of the IsraDrama theatre festival. In Germany, Avishai Milstein co-directed the “Familienbande” project at the Heidelberg Theatre alongside Jan Linders. Avishai Milstein is a director, playwright and translator of over 100 plays and projects.

His commissioned work for the MK, “Play Auerbach!”, has been nominated for the 2026 Mülheim Drama Prize.
