Jeisson Castillo

Jeisson Castillo is a Colombian visual artist and researcher who has delved into the ancestral wisdom of rural, Afro-Colombian, and Indigenous communities in Colombia. His artistic proposals combine painting, illustration, video, photography, animation, video mapping, and ethnographic research as tools for the protection and safeguarding of cultural and environmental heritage. He has particularly explored the use of sacred plants and entities to imbue his images with spirit.
In recent years, he has extensively traveled through the Colombian Amazon, working alongside various Indigenous peoples who are committed to preserving their traditions and territories. He has also collaborated with various organizations such as Gaia Amazonas, National Natural Parks, Frankfurt Zoological Society, Tropembos, the Organization of Indigenous Peoples of the Colombian Amazon (OPIAC), the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (ONIC), among others.
He is currently the co-director of the HOSCA Foundation and the OFRENDA publishing house, where he develops educational processes with Indigenous children through art. His work has been exhibited in universities, galleries, museums, and malocas in Colombia, the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
