Yasmin Tal
Yasmin Tal is a composer, pianist and musical director. Her work combines concert music, theatre and community-oriented art projects. Her compositions range from orchestral and chamber music to vocal and electroacoustic works to interdisciplinary projects, exploring sound as a space for encounter. She combines diverse influences with improvisation, collaboration across art forms and audience participation.
Tal graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (B.Mus., M.Mus. in composition) and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (linguistics and East Asian studies). She has received numerous awards, including first prize in the Hanna Yador Avni Competition, second prize in the Aviv Competitions of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and several prizes for her work in the field of music for dance. Her works have been performed internationally, including in Israel, Japan, Europe, the USA and South Korea.
From 2017 to 2024, Tal lived in Boston, where she taught at the New England Conservatory and led the ensemble Untitled Roots, which combines contemporary improvisation with traditional musical styles and participatory performance forms. Since 2024, she has been living in Munich, where she continues her artistic work as a musician and dramaturge and develops projects that combine music, theatre and social engagement, creating space for dialogue, creativity and shared experience.
