Josh Johnson is a performer, dancer and choreographer from Los Angeles. He joined the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in 2009 and was subsequently a member of the Forsythe Company (2010–2015). He is co-founder of the SAD collective, which has created performances, DJ sets, video works and installations throughout Europe, the USA and Asia. In the entertainment industry, he has worked with Beyoncé, Usher, Harlem World, Brandy, Bernhard Willhelm and Hercules & Love Amair, among others. In the visual and performing arts, he has performed and collaborated with artists Anne Imhof, Kandis Williams, Wu Tsang and boychild. Johnson’s performance works include: ‘Piety’ (Total Freedom, The Shed, 2018), ‘Allegory’ (Martin-Gropius-Bau, 2018), ‘Anthony’ (Phillip Pflug Contemporary, 2018). From 2019 to 2024, he was a guest at the Schauspielhaus Zürich with the group Moved By the Motion (Wu Tsang, boychild and Asma Maroof).
