Johanna Höhmann

Johanna Höhmann studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice at the University of Hildesheim and lives with her family in Berlin. During her studies, she began working as a dramaturge and worked at the Theater Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, where she was responsible for the 24-hour performance tour through Berlin of “Infinite Jest” based on the novel by David Foster Wallace. She co-curated “X-Wohnungen” by Matthias Lilienthal in the European Capital of Culture 2013 Košice (Slovakia). As a freelance dramaturge, she has collaborated with director Wojtek Klemm at the Współczesny Theater in Szczecin, Corinne Maier, Damian Rebgetz and the Freischwimmer Festival. She was a scholarship holder at the International Forum of the Theatertreffen and a participant in the mentoring program for women in culture and media of the German Cultural Council.
During Matthias Lilienthal’s directorship, Johanna Höhmann was dramaturge at the Münchner Kammerspiele from 2015 to 2018, where she worked with Susanne Kennedy, Anna-Sophie Mahler, Yael Ronen, Rabih Mroué and Marta Górnicka, among others. Together with Tarun Kade, she was responsible for the project “1968”. From 2018 to 2021 she was dramaturge at the Maxim Gorki Theater. She is currently a dramaturge at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin, where she continued her collaboration with Susanne Kennedy and Gob Squad and worked with Julien Gosselin and Kornél Mundruczó.
