Kontai Ensemble

Kontai is a fluid string ensemble from Munich led by violinist Teresa Allgaier and cellist Juri Kannheiser, who have been working together for many years in the fields of classical music, experimental pop and improvisation. With Kontai, they focus on classical contemporary chamber music and collaborate with up-and-coming international composers such as Viktor Orri Árnason, Friederike Bernhardt, Ralph Heidel, Theresa Zaremba, Annamaria Kowalsky and Matīss Čudars. The ensemble was founded in the course of the collaboration with the composer Sophia Jani for her debut album “Music as a mirror” (2022, Neue Meister). Their debut with new commissioned works for violin and cello will be released in 2025.
