Cristina Gómez Barrio and Wolfgang Meyer have been working together since 1998 on the interdisciplinary and collaborative performance project Discoteca Flaming Star. It aims to be an intellectual space where all kinds of artists can enter to play with different ways of contemporary aesthetic practice, seeking its limits and avoiding processes of formalization, creating spaces for experimentation and displaced memories. They currently work and live in Berlin.
For this evening’s performance “Love Any Out of (90 Seconds) End”, they are collaborating with the dancer Thomas Lempertz.
Cristina Gómez Barrio: Born in 1973 in Alhambra, Spain. Studied in Madrid, Munich and Berlin and graduated from the Whitney ISP in New York. She works with drawings, studies the color white in performance, photographs and dreams.
Wolfgang Mayer: Born in 1967 in Wertach, Allgäu, in Germany as the illegitimate child of Bonnie Tyler and someone else. He studied at the Academy in Munich, at the Bar d’O in NYC and with Ron Clark at the Whitney ISP. He works primarily with drawing, shimmering dust, video and performance.
Thomas Lempertz is a visual artist whose practice is firmly rooted in dance. He was born in Pforzheim and made his stage debut with the Stuttgart Ballet during his training at the John Cranko School. He enjoyed a successful career as a soloist with this renowned ensemble, dancing works ranging from ballet classics to contemporary pieces. Since 2003, Lempertz has been intensively involved with dance, combining his passion with a broad artistic spectrum. Always in the interplay between the three pillars of his work - dance, art and costumes - Lempertz has increasingly deepened his activity as a visual artist in recent years. Despite this development, he remains a dancer at heart, whose artistic expression is characterized by movement, visual design and creative diversity.
