Antigone Akgün
Antigone Akgün is an author and director. After training as an actor in Greece, she studied theater, film and media studies in Frankfurt and dramaturgy at the Hessian Theater Academy. As an author, she was invited to the Heidelberg Stückemarkt with texts for Julia Wissert’s 2069 - Das Ende der Anderen (Schauspielhaus Bochum 2019) and wrote NATHAN with Konstantin Küspert for Theater Regensburg. In 2021, she was nominated for the Hans-Gratzer-Stipendium at Schauspielhaus Wien with her play Das Erste Festmahl, which sheds light on the experiences of non-normative women’s bodies. In 2022 and 2023, she co-edited the Theatertreffen’s cultural journalism blog. As a dramaturge, she accompanied Ulrich Rasche’s production of Nathan the Wise at the Salzburg Festival and was invited to the 2024 Theatertreffen.
Her debut production Der Brotladen at Theater Bremen 2022 was invited to the Brecht Festival in Augsburg and to the Stadtkantine II festival at Staatstheater Darmstadt. She has also directed other productions at Theater Aachen and the Gostner Hoftheater in Nuremberg.
