Since its formation in London in 2018, this group has captivated millions of people from Canada to Mexico, and from Finland to Spain. Drag Syndrome is the world’s first collective of drag queens and kings with trisomy 21, sometimes known as Down’s syndrome. Their take on drag and performance art is joyful, innovative and electrifying. Their androgynous ‘genderfuck’ styling is not only unique but also political: Drag Syndrome celebrate the beauty and queer potential of people who are being born in ever-decreasing numbers. In Germany, around nine out of ten pregnant women choose to have an abortion if their baby is diagnosed with Trisomy 21. Incidentally, the patron of Drag Syndrome is the British musician Robert Wyatt. In 1973, the BBC refused to let him appear on the TV programme *Top of the Pops* because the editor considered a singer in a wheelchair to be unsuitable for family viewing. After two spectacular sold-out shows, Drag Syndrome is back at the Kammerspiele!
