A. L. Kennedy

A. L. Kennedy, born in 1965 in Dundee, Scotland, became famous with her first novel “Invitation to the Dance” (2001) and is one of the most important contemporary British authors. She has been awarded numerous important literary prizes. In 2007 she received the Austrian State Prize for European Literature, in 2016 the Heine Prize, and in 2020 the Honorary Prize of the Austrian Book Trade. Kennedy lives in Scotland and writes for The Guardian and the Süddeutsche Zeitung, among others. Her most recent publications in German are: “Schreiben” (Blogs & Essays, 2016), “Süßer Ernst” (novel, 2018), and “Als lebten wir in einem barmherzigen Land” (novel, 2023).
