Cico Beck

Cico Beck, born in 1984, studied, after his degree on a musical high school, teacher for mentally handicapped children at Ludwigs-Maximilian University in Munich.

After finishing this studies with a state examination he moved to Muenster to study classical drums and piano with a focus on composition and improvisation at the music college in the class of Prof. Stephan Froleyks. Besides his studies Beck was very into electronic, experimental and indie-pop music and the crossings of this genres and produced since then many records that got released on labels like Morr Music, Alien Transistor and Sub Pop.

Several journeys led him to Africa, Asia and North- and Middle America and made an intensive exchange with the musical traditions possible. Since 2010 Beck is active in several bands (The Notwist, Joasihno, Aloa Input, Spirit Fest, Fehler Kuti, …) that play concerts worldwide, composes music for theater (Ruhrtriennale, Münchner Kammerspiele, Berliner Ensemble, Residenztheater München, Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf), for radioplays, cinema and TV.
