Kammer 2

By Monster Truck, only four performances

At the foot of the Chilean Andes the Berlin performance collective Monster Truck has discovered the enclave “Villa Baviera”, - long known as "Colonia Dignidad" . Interested customers were always able to purchase full-grain bread and sausages here. Performers in dirndl dresses and leather pants sang select folk songs for guests. Behind the folkloristic façade this “Germany substitute” served as secret torture center for the Pinochet regime and as home port for right-wing death squads. And it used to be the site of systematic child abuse. Today the area is a holiday resort and presents the perfect setting for a cozy folkloric evening. Based on reports by people who have had experience with “the Germans” there, the Monster Truck performers manage a balancing act between documentary theater and surrealistic installation.

A production by Monster Truck, coproduced by Sophiensaele Berlin. Funded by the governing mayor of Berlin – Senatskanzlei – Kulturelle Angelegenheiten. With kind support of Goethe-Institut.
