Performance and discussion, by and with Berivan Kaya, Tuncay Acar and Peter Arun Pfaff
The evening is dedicated to the function of antique cultural assets as symbols and projection screen on which Western cultural identity is displayed, and especially to the new “warfare technique” of the so-called Islamic State to employ such cultural assets as weapons in a war of symbols. The initial trigger is the beheading of the director of the Palmyra Museum Khaled Al-Asad – also called Mr. Palmyra – by IS troops. The investigation is the starting point for a future theater play but also for this discussion evening with the audience and guests from the fields of culture and science.
Featuring: Erol Yildiz (author, social scientist) and other guests from the fields of culture and science.
Moderation and performance: Göthe Protokoll.
