By and with BY PROXY

In “Stop Being Poor”, their very first stage production, the artists of By Proxy deal with our efforts at compensating our worries, at suppressing our demons and fears, so that we continue to stay ahead in omnipresent competition. The collective from Norway comprises scenographers and performers who pursue the question of how economy influences the human body and how deeply it has imprinted itself into the most elementary human relationships. The performance is composed of a series of play structures. Every day of work generates winners and losers. It is all about bosses and employees. At the beginning of the production the audience is requested to cooperate in setting up the stage design. In this manner a connection is established between the audience, the space and the objects. How can actors and performers assert themselves in this order?
