ROCCO UND SEINE BRÜDER

Based on the movie by Luchino Visconti, act version Simon Stone

Director: Simon Stone

play

Those who lack the ability to fight with words, fight with their fists. Rocco’s family is poor. Filled with hope for social improvement, they leave their country for a great, foreign city. For a brief period of time, boxing seems to be a way out for Rocco and his brothers. But at some point the dreamers wake up and find that reality is brutal and painful.

In the past few years the young Australian stage director Simon Stone has primarily attracted attention by his radical new versions of classical texts. His plays have been shown in Paris, Vienna, Mannheim and Amsterdam, just to mention a few of the locations. They deal directly with our present time in an intensely painful manner.
