Festival night for advanced electronic pop music / feat. Modeselektor (DJ-Set), Fatima Al Qadiri (DJ-Set), Yves Tumor (Live), Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy (Live), Shaddah Tuum (Live), Jonas Friedlich (DJ-Set), Benjamin Fröhlich (DJ-Set)
The upcoming issue of Ritournelle - the Festival Night for Advanced Electronic Pop Music – at the Münchner Kammerspiele, stands for overcoming blockades, breaking down walls and a better future on the horizon. The Berlin-based DJ duo MODESELEKTOR, who are two-thirds of the Über-pop band Moderat, moves between genres and styles with nonchalant ease, exploring the boundaries of techno. The Senegal-born FATIMA AL QADIRI, who grew up in Kuwait, is considered the figurehead of a new queer pop movement that undermines conventional concepts of culture and gender with polyrhythmic electronic arrangements. The American YVES TUMOR is notorious for his energetic live shows and has recently been signed by the renowned Warp label. The Munich-based band CARL GARI combines the psychedelia of German electronic avant-garde with a contemporary club aesthetic – not least owing to Egyptian Sufi singer Abdullah Miniawy’s vocals – which moves its sound beyond Eurocentric confines. A collective ambient ritual with SHADDAH TUUM and DJ sets by JONAS FRIEDLICH and BENJAMIN FRÖHLICH complete the impressive line-up.
