Kammer 2

By Eisa Jocson

In the Disney empire, “Snow White” is the epitome of the happy girl. And in the company’s amusement parks all over the worlds, waving and laughing actresses enchant the audience. The Manila-based choreographer Eisa Jocson reflects on this universal performance of happiness from a postcolonial perspective: Disneyland in Hong Kong is the largest employer of Filipino dancers in the region. Due to their skin colour, however, they are only given unnamed minor roles.
