A READING AND TALK ABOUT “DER FALL MEURSAULT – EINE GEGENDARSTELLUNG”, moderation: MICHAEL KRÜGER, discussion in French and German
Until three years ago Kamel Daoud was a journalist in Oran, the second largest city in Algeria – then he became Kamel Daoud, the author of “the Meursault Investigation”, who dared to doubt the cultural heritage of the Western world. Daoud’s novel, with which he overwrites “the Stranger” by Nobel laureate Albert Camus, raises the question of whether the Western world is justified to consider its colonial past to be finished. For a reading from his novel and the ensuing discussion, Kamel Daoud undertakes the trip from Oran to Munich.
The reading is in German, the discussion in French with German translation.
