A DOCUMENTARY CONCERT WITH SCENES OF F. W. MURNAU'S FAUST AND THE LIFE OF THE COMPOSER W. R. HEYMANN, FEAT. MUSIC BY HEYMANN, MAHLER, WAGNER AND MORE
On the occasion of the Munich Faust Festival, the Orchester Jakobsplatz München and the Münchner Kammerspiele dedicate their next show to the best-known German silent film classic: Murnau’s “Faust” from 1926. The score for the world premiere by Werner Richard Heymann, however, has been lost since except for a few sections ever since it was written. “Flimmerkammer Spezial: Faust” goes in search of Heymann and his original composition in what is more than an attempt simply to reconstruct Heymann’s music. It plays with perception in an experiment that puts the spectators’ eyes and ears to the test.
