Kammer 1

FLIMMERKAMMER #1

A series of silent film screenings in cooperation with the Orchester Jakobsplatz München

Screening

Panzerkreuzer Potemkin, UdSSR, 1925
Director: Sergei Eisenstein, Music: Edmund Meisel
Original version for an orchestra

Sergei Eisenstein’s famous silent film of 1925 raises the question of how a revolution might fail or succeed. Similar to Bertolt Brecht’s play “Trommeln in der Nacht”, which premieres on 14 December under the direction of in-house director Christopher Rüping, Eisenstein examines the necessary prerequisites for a revolt of the underclass to succeed. As the first episode of the “Flimmerkammer” series, the Orchester Jakobsplatz München accompanies Eisenstein’s film live in a version for salon orchestra on the main stage of Kammer 1.
