BY ANTONIO SALINAS, IN SPANISH WITH SURTITLES IN GERMAN
Antonio Salinas is a multi-award-winning and dancer, actor, choreographer and teacher with an international network. With his highly entertaining cult performance “La fiebre del oso polar”, he tries to awaken the audience’s ecological awareness.
The protagonist justifies interest in his subject with the surprising revelation that mankind shares almost seventy percent of its genetic material with a spinach leaf. Animals and plants are not as categorically distinct from people as is commonly believed. The categories that suggest the contrary are self-imposed obstacles that only deter us to live together peacefully with the other creatures that inhabit this planet. Our constant compulsion to draw boundaries is applied even to our own species in the end.
Antonio Salinas himself appears on stage in a polar bear costume and celebrates an emotionally haunting one-man performance, in which dance, singing, theatre and video projections are combined.
