Jessica Pratt: "Quiet Signs"

Half an hour of the sweetest music, influenced by sixties folk and tropicália, suggestive and repetitive pop magic, softly strummed and thoughtfully tapped.” In his review for Spiegel Online, critic Andreas Borcholte described Jessica Pratt’s third and indeed most successful album to date in words as concise as they are accurate. The sketchy, dense mood of the singer and songwriter’s music processes a deep crisis she experienced when she returned to Los Angeles from a long tour, fell into depression and was unable to work for a period of time. To prepare for her concert at the Münchner Kammerspiele, everything was done to avoid the slightest background noise so that Pratt’s songs can drift through the air like invisible particles of a precious perfume in silent eddies that captivate the audience.
