FOLKLORIC EVENING

FOLK SONGS FROM GERMANY - CONCERT EVENING WITH SONGS IMMIGRATED FROM FOUR CONTINENTS

concert

The art project “Folk Songs from Germany” provides a stage for the multi-facetted music which has immigrated into Germany in the past 60 years and has found a home here. This concert format was first initiated in 2013 by the journalist Mark Terkessidis and the recording label manager Jochen Kühling. Eight choirs and music groups from Berlin, Augsburg and Munich take listeners and spectators on a musical world trip across four continents. They play music which has been imported, cultivated and interpreted by immigrants of the first and second generation and which has ever since marked daily life here. More than thirty artists show in a passionate manner how the term “home country” also changes through music. It is about life in Germany, the far-away home country, about migration and roots.
