DIRECTOR: CEZARY TOMASZEWSKI / IN POLISH WITH ENGLISH SURTITLES
“Cezary goes to War” was produced by Komuna // Warszawa, the most important independent avant-garde theatre in Poland, and is regarded as the theatre event of the last season. The show’s director makes his biography available to the audience and then it is danced by four actors and a pianist in a gym hall. In aerobics’ gear and with impressive perseverance, the actors navigate military experience and translate the criteria of military scrutiny onto life in today’s capitalist society, our perception of masculinity and our relationship to the state. Polish folk songs about love, the Fatherland and pain become the soundtrack of a bootcamp variety show.
