PART OF THE AYNWANDERUNK - NO SÜRÜK! #1 – 6 SERIES ON THE NSU TRIBUNAL COLOGNE. CURATED BY TAN ÖNDER, PROVIDER OF THE MIGRANTENSTADL BLOG AND ACTIVIST FOR THE NSU TRIBUNAL
Pegida, Charlie Hebdo, the headscarf ban for teachers, the debates about mosques and circumcisions – these are just the most obvious manifestations of a worldwide fear of Islam that is deeply rooted in European history. It threatens to destroy the foundations of an open and equal society. In the second episode of the series “Aynwaderunk - Nix Sürük” that is being mobilised for the NSU trial taking place this May in Cologne, the intention is to raise public awareness of the nature of structural racism.
What leads media coverage, political decisions and populist propaganda to incite violence against Muslims? Are there parallels between anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim racism? And: Which strategies can help protect and empower victims?
With Prof. Iman Attia (Alice-Solomon University), Dr Anna-Esther Younes (independent scholar)
