Audio Description & Tactile Guidance

Audio description means hearing description. It is a service for blind and visually impaired people. Speakers use headphones to describe what is happening on stage live in explanatory language. We offer audio description in cooperation with „Hörfilm München – Barrierefreie Filme“.

The stage set, costumes and props can be felt here. We offer performances with AD for visually impaired and blind viewers.

Guide Dogs

Guide dogs are welcome, please indicate when purchasing tickets if you are bringing a dog to the performance as we will reserve an extra seat. For the sake of the dogs, we would like to point out that in some scenes of the performances stroboscopic effects and very loud music will be played.

For deaf viewers, we offer selected performances with German sign language interpretation (DGS).

We do not have an induction system at the box office.

We use the D2020 wireless equipment from Sennheiser for performances in the Schauspielhaus to support people with hearing impairments.

This equipment includes both headset receivers and mobile induction loop receivers to ensure that each participant can receive the sound in good quality.

The headband receivers are ergonomically designed and comfortable to wear. They are simply placed on the ear cup, automatically adjust to the shape of the head and hang independently due to their light weight. These receivers allow participants* to hear the sound directly through built-in headphones. They offer good sound quality and filter functions to minimize distracting background noise. The volume can be individually adjusted to meet the needs of each listener.

Mobile induction loop receivers provide an additional way to receive sound wirelessly, especially for people with hearing aids. These receivers have a plug-in induction loop that can be paired with the hearing aid or a special headset with an induction loop receiver. Through this induction loop, the sound is transmitted directly into the hearing aid or headphones, ensuring optimal sound quality for individuals with hearing problems.

Early Boarding

Early boarding is an offer for visitors with visible and non-visible disabilities (e.g. with sensory or mental impairments) and means that you can enter the Therese-Giehse-Halle and the Werkraum earlier so that you can find your seat in peace and quiet and get used to the space and lighting situation in a relaxed manner.

If you would like to take advantage of this offer, simply speak to the colleagues from the admission service half an hour before the start of the performance. The colleagues will inform you about the start of early boarding and allow you to enter earlier.

Trigger warning

You will find content notes on some of the play announcement pages. Content notes are warnings about potentially distressing content that could be triggering. Communicating this information allows potential visitors to decide for themselves whether a performance is accessible to them in terms of content or not.

The availability and scope of content notes are the result of a joint process and close consultation with the respective artists and groups responsible. Therefore, content notes are not available for all plays in our programme.

We are aware that the content of some artistic works without content notes may be disturbing, distressing or even retraumatising for some visitors. As there is a wide range of different triggers and we are not always equally sensitive to all of them, we offer our audience the opportunity to enquire about specific triggers in advance if necessary.

We encourage you to contact us and ask whether certain distressing content is addressed, shown or performed in one of our productions. A short email is sufficient for this, which does not require any special wording or explanation and can consist of just one question. Please feel free to contact us
