A choreographic piece exploring the tension between closeness and misunderstandings – featuring sign language – by and starring Lina Mattei and Mark Petersen
Two people. A public bus. A journey with no clear destination. — Lina Mattei is the winner of the DEGETH Festival’s special prize. This includes an invitation to an artistic residency at the Münchner Kammerspiele. She will present the result of this residency, together with her fellow actor Mark Petersen, over two evenings at the Habibi Kiosk. Both are members of the theatre group GESTUS.
With subtle humour, quiet melancholy and great precision, *Haltestelle: Ja aber* explores the small shifts that alter relationships: conversations that never take place, memories that linger differently in people’s minds and change over time, and the longing to get off at the right stop – or perhaps to set off together after all. As the bus travels through a nameless city, memories and (missed) opportunities flash by like bus stops.
The result is an evening’s theatre about closeness and misunderstandings. And about the space in between: between staying and leaving, silence and speech, the past and the present – together or each on their own. Sign language becomes choreography here.
