Zine workshop on ‘Au au au Hi hi hi – A Temporary Monument’ and ‘Play Auerbach’
Can a publication also be a monument?
In preparation for the release of “Au au au Hi hi hi - A Temporary Monument” by artists Angela Stiegler and Samuel Fischer Glaser, the Pastinaken are hosting a fanzine workshop for anyone interested. The Pastinaken are a network for political education in Munich.
Complementing the evening event, the workshop will focus on FLINTA* individuals who were systematically persecuted and murdered during the Nazi era. The workshop will center on their stories and explore which perspectives are often still missing from our culture of remembrance today. The goal of the workshop is to increase the visibility of marginalized groups affected by Nazi persecution and to bring their life stories more into the spotlight.
In the workshop, you’ll create small publications. The aim is to explore the following questions: How do we remember? Whom do we remember? And what is a monument? Can a publication also be a monument?
The publication “Au au au Hi hi hi – A Temporary Monument” is dedicated to the eponymous performance piece on the politics of memory staged in public spaces in Munich, in which Philipp Auerbach also plays a leading role. The Kammerspiele production “Play Auerbach” is also dedicated to Philipp Auerbach, a Shoah survivor and director of the Bavarian State Compensation Office.
