Open (Theater) House All Night Long! — 100 years ago, the Münchner Kammerspiele moved to Maximilianstraße—right in the heart of Munich. Join us in celebrating this theater and all the possibilities it has to offer. The entire program is free!

On October 24, the eras blur together—it’s 1926, it’s 2026. But above all, it’s time for a housewarming party! This is where everyone who wants to be themselves without being pushed to the margins of society comes together. We’ll kick things off at 6:00 p.m. in front of the Schauspielhaus on Maximilianstraße with a festive opening ceremony, and then delve deep into the architecture of the Schauspielhaus with a dance performance by Doris Uhlich and her ensemble.

Inside the auditorium, the chairs have been removed, and a ramp connects the audience area to the stage. Food and drink stands will keep you well-fed and energized for the next round on the dance floor. In memory of the famous underground cabaret bar that Valeska Gert opened in New York while in exile in the 1940s, TAM TAM’s Beggar Bar will offer a haven for thirsty and restless friends of the avant-garde in the upper foyer starting at 7:30 p.m.

At 8:00 p.m., we’ll celebrate the joy of play, the creation of one’s own story, and the adaptability of individuals and society with a spectacular drag show—before you get to conquer even the Kammerspiele’s most historic stage yourselves during karaoke!

After burning off our last bit of energy during aerobics, we’ll let our imaginations wander into the future: In collaboration with TAM TAM, the legendary event series “Long Night of Lucid Dreams” will take place at the Schauspielhaus for the first time. All night long, the doors of the Schauspielhaus—located on one of the most expensive streets in the world—will be open to anyone who wants to shape their dreams, feel connected, or simply sleep. In ancient Greece, people believed that dreams were inspired by the gods. So let’s sleep to find out what the next 100 years have in store!
