Suchers Leidenschaften: Ödön von Horváth

The successful literary show by the well-known Munich-based critic and journalist is coming to the Schauspielhaus. Together with the ensemble, C. Bernd Sucher will introduce works by authors who also feature in the Munich Kammerspiele’s programme. On 14 October – three days before the premiere of *Jugend ohne Gott* – the focus will be on the playwright, novelist and poet Ödön von Horváth (1901–1938), whose life and work are closely linked to the history of Munich before and during the Nazi era.

The lecture series ‘Sucher’s Passions’ began in 1999 at the Cuvillie Theatre with actors from the Bavarian State Theatre; it has continued regularly to this day at the Gasteig, the Prinzregententheater and the Metropoltheater. Furthermore, this series has seen Sucher invited to perform at venues including the National Theatre in Weimar, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schauspielhaus in Zurich, the St. Pauli Theatre in Hamburg, the Schauspielhaus in Bochum and the Odéon in Paris. Anthologies of the lectures, audiobooks and television productions for the ARD’s regional third channels have also been produced. In 2001, Classen Verlag published C. Bernd Sucher’s book *Sucher’s Passions – What Remains of 20th-Century Literature?*
