Release concert and live performance
With Rubbermaidxxx, the multidisciplinary artist Anna McCarthy is opening a new chapter in her musical and performative work. Through projects such as Moon Not War and, most recently, as the singer in the band What Are People For?, she moves between music, performance and the visual arts. Her works combine political research, humour and pop culture, and are often created across different media.
Following her music performance *The Hills Have Crazy Eyes – Woman in a Landscape*, which premiered at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2024, McCarthy is consistently continuing her practice with Rubbermaidxxx.
We encounter a figure with a fluid identity: an emancipatory outsider with a penchant for daring. Rubbermaidxxx tidies up, wipes and scrubs, removes the dirt and takes on the work that others leave undone – until she rebels against the role intended for her. As a master of deception, she leads us between fiction and reality and invites us to dismantle power structures and hierarchies.
On 5 November, she will be performing Rubbermaidxxx live for the first time in Munich – alongside Philip Errico and Michael Tapper, who are travelling from New York especially for the occasion, as well as other special guests. The album will be released on that day via Alien Transistor Records.
