Release concert and live performance
The multidisciplinary artist Anna McCarthy moves between visual art, performance, music, film and literature. Her works combine political research, humour and pop-cultural references, and are often created through collaborative, cross-media processes.
With Rubbermaidxxx, Anna McCarthy is embarking on a new musical chapter. The project was conceived last year in New York and blends field recordings, beats and spoken word into an eclectic amalgam. Developed in collaboration with the artists Nick McCarthy, Philip Errico and Michael Tapper, the project straddles the boundaries between concert, performance and installation, building on her long-standing exploration of language, the body and space.
With her musical performance The Hills Have Crazy Eyes – Woman in a Landscape, which premiered at the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2024, Anna McCarthy offered the audience a sensory and multi-layered encounter with her work.
Rubbermaidxxx consistently continues this interdisciplinary practice: during the creation of the album, McCarthy developed visual performance elements involving abseiling from buildings, collaborations with dancers and various musicians.
On 5 November, Anna McCarthy will present Rubbermaidxxx live in Munich for the first time – alongside Philip Errico and Michael Tapper, who are travelling from New York especially for the occasion, as well as other special guests.
The eponymous album is being released on Alien Transistor Records, the label of her band What Are People For?.
