Festival opening with a screening of “Feito Pipa – Gugu’s World” by Allan Deberton
The QFFM | Munich Queer Film Festival invites all lovers of queer cinema to the festival opening at the Schauspielhaus of the Münchner Kammerspiele. At the champagne reception in the foyer afterwards, all guests will have the opportunity to chat with community representatives, jury members, curators – and, above all, with one another.
This year’s opening film, ‘Feito Pipa – Gugu’s World’ by Brazilian filmmaker Allan Deberton, is powerful and witty. It forges gentle bonds between generations and tells a story of fragile memories.
Twelve-year-old Gugu, living in a small town in north-eastern Brazil, dreams of a career as a footballer. Under the protection of his warm-hearted grandmother Dilma, he can be completely himself and draw strength and inspiration from movement. The two are united by a powerful bond of wordless understanding, far removed from some of the hostile and precarious structures within their community. As subtle changes creep into their gentle routine, Gugu struggles to preserve their small and fragile world.
