Through delicate songs that blend elements of rave, avant-garde, and theater, they explore the spirits of the digital present.

The new band led by Andreas Spechtl (Ja, Panik) emerged from the theatre production of “The Weird & The Eerie” (Weimar, 2024). Together with playwright Thomas Köck and musicians Katharina Ernst and Annea Lounatvori, the quartet interweaves music, text and performance.

Their debut album, “Folksongs from the WWW”, is being released in July 2026 and is a soundtrack of the digital present, populated by voices, echoes and ghostly fragments. At its core lies a central question: If our avatars already exist, will they sometime begin to sing on their own? And what will we hear then: the future, or just the ghosts of the past? Between the analogue and the quasi-self, a multilayered sonic space unfolds, brimming with propulsive grooves and voices both real and synthetic. WEIRD & EERIE orchestrates encounters with the ghosts of our digital world: “Look at me, this is me, feeling nothing, feeling everything at once.”
