Limina

A liminal space is a transit zone where artificial intelligence processes data, recognises patterns and generates new outputs. It is a state of ambiguity and disorientation, but also of infinite possibilities; a space where predictions govern everything and errors are inevitable.

In “Limina”, we meet six characters who are hurled from such a liminal space into various planes of reality and time: from a ballet rehearsal, where the optimisation of the body and the suppression of emotions are practised, the characters find themselves alone in a laundrette or dancing exuberantly through the dark night at a free rave. And perhaps, somewhere between these worlds, a love story might even unfold…

Łukasz Twarkowski and his team embark on a journey through time and genres, tracing the history of humanity’s ambivalent fascination with the unknown and the intangible, taking the audience along for the ride into his ‘uncanny valley’ visual landscapes.

Together with the sound and video department of the Münchner Kammerspiele, Łukasz Twarkowski and his team received the German Theatre Prize, ‘Der Faust’, in 2024 for their acclaimed production “WoW – Word on Wirecard”.
