The sixth edition of the Munich Theater Studies Department’s Playwriting Workshop for Drama and Opera
This year’s edition of this nationwide unique collaboration between universities and theaters is dedicated to political and personal issues of our time. Theater studies students at LMU are collaborating with composition students at the HMTM (classes: Prof. Jan Müller-Wieland, Prof. Moritz Eggert, Prof. Isabel Mundry) to develop new one-act plays and libretti. These works will be staged by students in the directing class (Prof. Sebastian Baumgarten) at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding. The seven resulting works reflect the unvarnished perspective of a young generation. The mentor for this year’s writers’ workshop is the Munich-based author and director Anne Habermehl. The resulting musical theater miniatures explore, in a variety of musical styles, questions of socio-political security as well as ways of coping with loneliness.
