In the final part of his musical phenomenology, Sebastian Reier encounters Maurice Summen and the music of outer space
Two and a half hours of vinyl talk and deep listening in a living-room atmosphere that transcends the ordinary.
Our popular Music Kiosk series is coming to an end – ironically, in infinity. For this final instalment, we’ve chosen a special theme with a special guest. Singer, label owner, journalist and part-time philosopher Maurice Summen discusses and explores the music of the cosmos with our vinyl archaeologist Sebastian Reier, alias Booty Carrell. Sound speculative? It is. One thing is certain, however: ever since humans became aware that a world beyond the terrestrial exists, their music has repeatedly communicated with it.
Music Kiosk means: two and a half hours of vinyl talk and deep listening in a cosy living-room atmosphere. The result is a whimsical and unacademic celebration of nerdiness for beginners and advanced enthusiasts alike. So: let’s put up the antennas!
“The earth cannot move without music. The earth moves in a certain rhythm, a certain sound, a certain note. When the music stops the earth will stop and everything upon it will die.”
― Sun Ra, Space is the Place
