For those who can’t wait: on the eve of the big İÇ İÇE Festival night, we’ll be warming up the atmosphere with talks, dancing and a performance by Dilruba!
Our guest is Melissa Kolukisagil, curator, cultural producer and founder of İÇ İÇE.
Suzan “Sue” Çakar and Melissa Kolukisagil discuss curatorial practice, cultural production spaces and the conditions of artistic work in post-migrant contexts. The focus is on questions of collective knowledge production, institutional structures and the role of formats that create spaces for exchange, encounter and critical perspectives. Come what may. Two approaches come together here: İÇ İÇE, a Berlin-based curatorial programme with a touring concept, and We Won’t Shut Up, a Munich-based platform for artistic and discursive formats. The conversation explores how such connections arise and what they can achieve – in times when the space for critical cultural work is shrinking and solidarity is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It will be an open conversation, navigating between personal experience and structural reflection – amongst us, at Biz Bize.
The musical backdrop is provided by Munich-based singer Dilruba. Her R&B meanders between worlds: musically, emotionally and stylistically: shall we call it Neo-Oriental Soul? Dilruba searches for identity alongside her audience, singing of inner conflicts and personal growth. And she captures them – life’s struggles, big and small – with an incredible voice. A Biz Bize event really comes full circle when all the names, discussions and emotions are finally danced out. To this end, İÇ İÇE DJs will be taking to the decks to round off the evening!
