The “Community Paint and Quilt Project” forms part of the intercontinental exhibition “Democratic Encounters: Harare & Munich,” which will take place at Lothringer 13 Halle. Fépar, the living room for the BIPoC community and friends, has been invited to lead the hands-on workshop in collaboration with curators Sophie Eisenried of Habibi Kiosk and Zakirah Rabaney of Lothringer 13 Halle.

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, we welcome children, teenagers, and adults to paint expressive patterns inspired by personal stories and lived experiences. Inspired by the works of Zimbabwean artists currently in residence in Munich — Grace Nyahangare and Gresham Tapiwa Nyaude — participants will create their own textile paintings, which will then be stitched together into a collective community quilt to be presented as part of the exhibition “Democratic Encounters: Harare & Munich” on Thursday, June 18, at 7 p.m. Fépar will also continue to use the quilt at future events, such as the “Summer Community Picnic & Sound” at Lenbachhaus’s “Buntes Garten Ciao” on Saturday, August 1.

Participation is free and open to all. As places are limited to 20 participants, advance registration is required via workshops@lothringer13.com.
